Julie Dorchak Johnson was raised in Columbus, Georgia and is a second-generation graduate of Columbus High School. She graduated Cum Laude from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and a Minor in Art History. While attending Mercer University, Walter F. George School of Law, Julie served as a mentor to first year students through the Mercer Academic Mentor Program. Throughout law school Julie focused her studies on Litigation and Legal Writing. She received both the Faculty Legal Writing Award and a Certificate in Advanced Legal Writing, Research, and Drafting. Receiving her Juris Doctor degree from Mercer in May 2013, Julie graduated Cum Laude and within the top 15% of her class.
Julie has been with the Firm since August 2013, becoming a partner in October 2019. She primarily focuses her practice on labor and employment issues and litigation. This includes a wide variety of topics including, but not limited to matters involving claims under Title VII, Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) (i.e. Overtime and Minimum Wage), Civil Rights Act, Sections 1981 and 1983, Equal Protection, First and Fourth Amendments, constitutional law, contract law, and a variety of other state and federal laws and regulations. Julie represents a number of large and small employers in Georgia and Alabama, advising and defending them on a variety of employment issues from basic human resources matters and policies to complaints, filed with the Department of Labor (DOL), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and other governmental agencies, and lawsuits filed by current and former employees. Julie was named to Georgia Trend’s 2016 Legal Elite in the area of Labor and Employment Law and has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 Editions).
